Van-borne goat thieves arrested

Bhilai, Oct 03: Police have arrested 05 accused including a woman on charges of stealing goats. They used to roam around in a Maruti Van and steal goats from different places. They have confessed involvement in three such incidents. Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police (Durg) Bradi Narayan Meena and under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural0 Anant Sahu and SDOP (Patan) Devansh Singh Rathore, the team of Utai Police led by Inspector Navi Monika Pandey is making sustained efforts to trap the people involved in thefts and burglaries. Recently, one Bhagela Yadav made a complaint at Utai Police Station regarding theft of his goats. The FIR was lodged under sections 457, 380 and investigation was launched. During investigation, Utai Police got information from the Anda Police Station Under regarding the accident of a Maruti Van in which goats were loaded. Utai Police team immediately moved to Anda Police Station and the people moving in the vehicle were quizzed. During interrogation, they confessed to have stolen the goats. Police arrested the accused identified as Om Prakash Verma alias Moolchand Verma (28) son of Khemu Verma a resident of Ruabandha Azad Chowk; Raja Ram Nishad (41) son of Arunajalam Nishad a resident of Ruabandha Bajrang Chowk; Fayyaz Ahmed alias Bhuru (23) son of Abdul Latif a resident of Ruabandha Azad Chowk; Mohd Safi alias Lallu (56) son of Mod Isaaz a resident of Ruabandha Azad Chowk; and Ragamma Dhobi (46) wife of Jai Shitala a resident of Telugu Mohalla, Chhawani. They used to roam around in a Maruti Van and steal the goats. Earlier they had stolen goats from village Dhaur and Amapendri. Police seized a Maruti Van, 09 nos goats and sale amount Rs 4400 from their possession. The accused have been sent to jail on judicial remand. Inspector Navi Monika Pandey (SHO, Utai), Sub-Inspector Bhupendra Ogre, ASI Chandshekhar Soni, ASI Rajkumar Deshmukh, Constable Akash Tiwari, Rajkumar Chandra, Narayan Thakur, Meghraj Chelak and Anda Police Station’s Constable Ajay Dhimar and Ashwani Yadav played vital role in arresting the accused.
