RNS to celebrate birth annivesary of Late Mannanth Padmanabhan today

Raipur, Jan 01: Raipur Nair Samajam (RNS) will celebrate the birth anniversary of Bharat Kesari Late Mannanth Padmanabhan ‘Mannam Jayanti’ on January 2 at Shree Shankara Senior Secondary School, Urkura Road, Birgaon, Raipur at 11 am. Sharat Nair, General Secretary, Raipur Nair Samajam informed that Bharat Kesari Sri. Mannathu Padmanabhan born on January 2, 1878 was an Indian social reformer and freedom fighter from the south-western state of Kerala. He is recognised as the founder of the Nair Service Society (NSS), Padmanabhan is considered as a visionary reformer who organised the Nair community under the NSS. On 31 October 1914, with the help of a few others, he established the Nair Service Society. His main ambition was to uplift the status of the Nair community. From 1915 onwards, he gave up law practice and became full-time secretary of the Nair Service Society. Padmanabhan was involved with the Nair Service Society as its secretary for 31 years and as its president for three years. He was honoured with the title Bharata Kesari by the President of India. He also received Padma Bhushan in 1966. The function will start at Shree Shankara Senior Secondary School at 11 am by lightening the traditional lamp and paying floral tributes to Late Mannanth Padmanabhan which will be followed by laying of foundation stone of Saraswati temple and Mannam memorial at school premises.
