Fire Service Day observed at Bhilai Steel Plant

Bhilai, Apr 14: Fire Service day was observed at SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Fire Service department on April 14, 2023. Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dasgupta paid tributes at Shaheed Smarak to Firemen who lost their lives during their service earlier. Anjani Kumar, ED (Works), S Mukhopadhyay ED (Projects) with additional charge of ED (P&A), AK Chakravorty, ED (MM), Dr AK Panda, ED (F & A), Samir Swarup, CGM I/c (Mines and Rowghat), Dr M Ravindranath , CMO I/c (Medical and Health Services), CGM I/cs, CGMs, other senior officials and family members of Fire Service personnel and children were present on the occasion.
Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP) in his address emphasised on preventing fire. We must strive to keep the Plant safe and improve monitoring of our Fire protection system, he said. We must take support of technology in the field of Fire Safety. We must be prepared to tackle emergencies, he added. We must also equip ourselves to hazards which are seasonal in nature, he stated.
Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) stated that we must follow SoPs. We must sensitize people towards Fire safety and recognise the efforts of the those Firemen who serve to save us round the clock, he said.
The theme for Fire Safety day this year is “Awareness in Fire Safety for Growth of National Infrastructure (AGNI)”.
Vineet Pal Singh Dhama accorded Chief Guest Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP) an inspection of the Parade. Two minutes silence was observed for remembering the sacrifice of Firemen who lost their lives earlier. An Oath was taken by Firemen followed by Guard of Honour to the Chief Guest.
GP Singh, CGM (Safety & FS) gave the Welcome address. BK Mahapatra, Chief Fire Officer presented the Annual report and enumerated the details of efforts taken to prevent accidents.
Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP), and Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) gave away prizes to winners of different competitions. Dinesh Kumar Bhatt and Mandata Goyal were declared the Best Firemen of the year.
Informative and interesting fire safety demonstration including Ladder drill, First aid fire fighting demo, AFT Tank fire, Home safety, Kitchen fire, Party fire, Cable tunnel, transformer oil fire, Propane storage Tank fire and High expansion foam were displayed which kept the audience watching in awe of the procedures.
