Tree Plantation programme organised in St Thomas College

Bhilai, Jul 18: The NSS, NCC and Eco Club of St Thomas College jointly organised a Tree Plantation program on Sunday in the College campus. The chief Guest of this programme was Vijay Baghel, Member of Parliament Durg Constituency.
First of all Principal Dr MG Roymon welcomed the chief guest Vijay Baghel, Corporator of Ruabandha Sector Rangbahadur Singh, all staff members and students and said that cleanliness and safety of environment is our first and foremost duty.
During the second wave of Pandemic the entire country faced the scarcity of Oxygen. Trees provide us continuous Oxygen. Hence now we all should plant at least one tree and contribute towards the safety of environment. Chief Guest Vijay Baghel said that human life and environment both are complimentary to each other. We all are incomplete without trees.
Trees provide us fruits, flowers, oxygen and play an important role for development in all the areas of life. Right from the small ant to the entire human society trees are the boons for all of us then why we don’t fulfill our responsibility towards environment?
We all should take pledge that on each birthday we will plant a tree and we will take care of that plant till our next birthday. At last he presented his sincere gratitude towards the entire St Thomas College staff and students for conducting this programme.
Social Worker Shanu Mohanan, Public representatives of Risali zone Pappu Deepak Chandrakar, Amrit Dewangan, Mahamantri Lalit Chandrakar, Manish Yadav, Vidhi Yadav, and Vishaldeep Nair played an important role in this tree plantation programme.
On this occasion students of NSS and NCC and all staff members planted trees of various fruits. The programme was conducted by NSS programme officer Mahendra Ikhar and vote of thanks was proposed by NCC Officer Lt Dr Laxman Prasad.
