St Thomas College celebrates Independence Day

Bhilai, Aug 16: The 75th Independence Day was celebrated in St Thomas College with full of joy and enthusiasm. On this occasion first of all Principal of College Dr MG Roymon presented a floral tribute to all freedom fighters on Shahid Smarak at Vande Matram Park. Then he hoisted the National Flag.
Simultaneously all the students, faculties and other staff members sung and recorded the National Anthem under the nationwide program “Azadi ka Amritmahotsav” run by Cultural Ministry of Indian Government. Then everyone uploaded their recording on the website of Cultural Ministry and received certificate.
Principal Dr MG Roymon said that as today we are living and breathing in the free environment, it is nothing but the sacrifice of millions of people who fought and died for the Independent India. He also said that we all from various religions and societies are fully committed to maintain our unity in diversity.
Faculty of Commerce Department Dr Neelam Gandhi shared her views and said that there are so many heroes and freedom fighters whose names are not known but they sacrificed everything for country. India will be always indebted towards them.
On this occasion students of NCC and NSS, faculties from all the departments and other staff members were present. The program was successfully conducted by NCC Officer Lt Dr Surekha Jawade.
