SDRF conducts flood rescue mock drill

Bhilai, Jun 30: District Administration organised at flood rescue mock drill at River Sheonath on Wednesday. The SDRF team rescued a person who was stranded in flooded river. The team responded immediately and divers were pressed into service to rescue the stranded person.
Through this mock drill, the administration examined the SDRF response in case of disaster; how to act on the instructions of the higher officials, etc. Flood disaster in-charge and Deputy Collector Jageshwar Kaushal informed that they assessed the preparations through mock drill.
All motor boats are in good condition. The team is ready for any kind of response. He said that along with the boat, other rescue equipments were also displayed. An imaginary situation was created in which the SDRF team was informed about a person who was trapped in the flood. The team reached the spot and rescued the flood victim.
All the necessary arrangements like medicines etc were made as per the protocol for the rescued person. Kaushal informed that the drill was conducted successfully. The team is ready to face any situation during the flood disaster.
All instructions regarding flood prevention are being followed and all preparations are being made to start the relief work immediately in case of floods. The teams will be equipped with state-of-the-art flood rescue equipment, cutting tools and communication equipment, medical first responder kits, deep diving sets, inflatable lighting towers, etc. Skilled divers, swimmers and medical staff will be present in the teams who will be able to provide all possible help to the people in relief and rescue work during flood disaster.
Deputy Collector Jageshwar Kaushal, SDM Vinay Poyam; Deputy Collector and Superintendent of Land Records Praveen Verma were also present. Along with this, officers of other coordinating departments were also present including Commandant Vishwakarma, Narayan Thakur from Municipal Corporation Durg, Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Bhilai – Sunil Agrahari, Tehsildar Anand Banjare, Dr Archana Jain from Veterinary Department and employees of Water Resources Department.
