Lalit Kala Akademi honours litterateurs and artists

Bhilai, Jan 30: Chhattisgarh State Unit of Lalit Kala Akademi (National Academy of Art), New Delhi, felicitated the litterateurs and artists with Rashtriya Sahitya Purodha Samman and Rashtriya Kala Purodha Samman during a simple function held at Sector 5 on Sunday. Member of Parliament Vijay Baghel graced the function as Chief Guest. Dr Ankush Kumar Dewangan (Member of Executive Board, Lalit Kala Akademi) delivered the welcome address. MP Vijay Baghel honoured the litterateurs, journalists and artists with citation, shawl and srifal.

In his address, Baghel said that the litterateurs and artists played a vital role in the formation of Chhattisgarh state. During the independence movement, the litterateurs and artists succeeded to unite and motivate the masses for a common goal. In the present day also, they are making significant contributions in making the state and the country proceed on the path of development. The litterateurs and artists have the capacity of creating a mass movement without any violence. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also a litterateur and he understood the significance of creating a separate Chhattisgarh state. Due to this reason only, he gave a separate state as a gift to the people. A corruption free, peaceful and progressive society cannot be imagined without the contributions of litterateurs and artists, he said.

Sudhakar Shevlikar, Kirti Madhav Vyas, Madan Sharma, Dushyant Harmukh, Rajni Rajak, Roopa Sahu, Durga Prasad Parkar, Mahesh Chandra Sharma, Dr Shivnarayan Dewangan, Bhavana Pandey, Md Zakir Hussein, Ghanshyam Parkar, Hari Sen, Shatrughan Swarnakar, BL Soni, Brijesh Tiwari, GK Nirmalkar, Umakant Thakur, Manish Tamrakar, Praveen Kaalmegh, Rajendra Sunguria, Haji Siddhiqui and Menaka Verma were felicitated.
