Infrastructure being updated in anticipation of third Covid wave

Bhilai, May 21: Preparations have been started by the district administration to update the infrastructure to deal with the possibility of third wave. Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure has given instructions in this regard to update the infrastructure in all government hospitals and make arrangements for proper treatment of children in particular. Work is currently underway to build a 25-bed ICU for children at Chandulal Chandrakar Covid Care Hospital while BSP management is also preparing to strengthen Covid Management and for this a hospital of 114 beds is being prepared in Human Resource Development Center at Sector -1.

On Friday, Bhilainagar MLA Devendra Yadav accompanied by Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure oversaw the preparations at the center. Devendra during inspection said that along with the availability of infrastructure in the hospital, the availability of hospital staff should also be ensured. Manpower has a major role to play in covid care, he added. The BSP management assured that necessary work is being done on it. Collector Dr Bhure said that there is a chance of a third wave, and so we have to be prepared for every kind of situation. Though children have a good immune system yet given the nature of Covid, no risk can be taken and there should be a robust system to deal with any situation. In the event of children becoming infected in large numbers, proper treatment for them is necessary. For this, resources are being updated in government hospitals. Hospital staff is being trained for child care. Webinars have been planned so that the hospital staff is constantly updated regarding the care of children.

Here it needs a mention that the other day a meeting of the management of private hospitals was called in and they have also been asked to prepare special beds for the children. The Collector also asked the management regarding the appointment of hospital staff and doctors for the Covid Care Hospital. Hospital management assured that work was in progress in this regard. The BSP management informed the collector that preparations for the Covid Care Hospital will be completed by June 05. This is being done at a rapid pace. The Collector inquired in detail about the availability of oxygen and other necessary facilities here. During this time Bhilai Corporation Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi and other officers of BSP management were also present.
