Habitual offender held for vehicle thefts

Bhilai, June 11: Police have arrested a 25-year-old habitual offender on charges of bike lifting. Police have recovered a total of eleven vehicles from his possession. The accused committed thefts in different areas of the city. Considering the rising cases of thefts and burglaries, SP Prashant Thakur had directed his subordinates to pay special attention towards such cases.
Under the supervision of ASP (City) Sanjay Dhruw, DSP (Crime) Praveer Chandra Tiwari and CSP (Bhilai) Rakesh Joshi, the team of Bhilai Nagar Police Station was maintaining watch on the activities of suspects and criminal record holders. The network of informers was also activated for the purpose. In this sequel, Bhilai Nagar Kotwali team led by Inspector Vijay Thakur received a tip off regarding a habitual offender Bhagwan Das Joshi who was active in the region for the past some time. Police team swung into action and after sustained efforts, they managed to trap the suspect. During interrogation, he confessed to have committed bike lifting from several spots in Bhilai Nagar, Jamul, Bhilai Bhatti and Raipur. Police recovered seven nos motorcycles, three nos Activa Scooters and a TVS Excel Super Moped from his possession. Total value of the recovered vehicles is around Rs 2.24 lakhs.
Complaint regarding theft of TVS Star City bike (CG07-BK-6067) is registered at Bhilai Nagar Kotwali while the FIR regarding theft of Hero HF Deluxe Bike (CG07-BH-6266) is lodged at Jamul Police Station. The accused Bhagwan Das Joshi alias Khargosh has been booked under the provisions mentioned in section 41 (1+4) of CrPC and Section 379 of IPC. He was produced before the court and has been sent to jail on judicial remand. He was arrested earlier also on similar charges.
SI BR Markam, Daya Shankar pandey, ASI Jitendra Chandrakar, ASI Purna Bahadur, Constable Santosh Gupta, Jugnu Singh, Upendra Yadav, Constable Gajendra Sahu, Anup Sharma, Shamim Khan, Panne Lal, Shahbaz Khan, Abdul Shafiq, Sanjay Soni, Tarkeshwar Sahu and Pankaj Chaturvedi played vital role in arresting the accused.
