Durg Police reunites 34 missing children with their families

Bhilai, Sep 28: Durg Police has constituted Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) to trace, search, rescue and recover the missing children. In this sequel, 34 missing children were recovered from different states. Under the directions of SP Dr Abhishek Pallava and guidance of ASP (City) Sajay Dhruv and ASP (Rural) Anant Sahu, the AHTU led by DSP Sanjay Pundhir (Nodal Officer) conducted “Operation Muskaan” to trace the missing children.

A list of 154 children, who were missing for a long, was provided to the AHTU. The unit reviewed all the cases and contacted the family members as well as villagers of the missing children. To trace the missing children, the team analysed the mobile data, location and also used social media. Police teams were sent to different states to search for the missing children. The unit was successful in recovering 34 missing children out of whom eight were recovered from Telangana, Punjab, Orissa, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

On Wednesday, a missing 12-year-old child Devendra Sinha of Dhamdha was recovered with the help of Vijayawada Childline. Annoyed with his family members, the child had fled from the house and had travelled to Vijayawada in a train. The team of Dhamdha Police Station has recovered the child and was on the way back to Dhamdha till filing of this report.

Other recovered children have been reunited with their families. The special operation of searching the missing children will continue in future as well.

Six children were recovered by Mohan Nagar Police Station, four by Durg City Kotwali, three each by Old Bhilai, Jamul and Nandini Nagar; two each from Newai, Patan and Kumhari while one child each was recovered by Utai, Pulgaon, Bhilai Bhatti, Khursipar, Chhawani, Pulgaon, Supela, Vishali nagar and Bori Police Stations.
