Divyangs inoculated at special vaccination camp

Bhilai, May 23:
A special camp was organized for vaccination of Divyang people on Sunday at Nehru Bhavan, Press Club in Supela. Divyang people of various categories reached here to get inoculated. It was the first of its kind camp organised in the state for differently abled people. The vaccination camp was organized under joint aegis of Social Welfare Department, Municipal Corporation Bhilai and Health Department on the instructions of District Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure. BMC Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi had directed to make comprehensive arrangements to facilitate the Divyangs in the vaccination center. A large number of Divyangs enthusiastically reached the centre to get vaccinated. Additional Collector BB Panchabhai inspected the centre and encouraged the beneficiaries with flowers.
Arrangements of adequate chairs for observation, beds, provision of drinking water, coolers in view of summer season, food, mobile toilets, 10 nos wheelchairs, post vaccine medicines, etc were made at the centre. A temporary ramp was also made to ensure easy movement of wheelchairs. ANM Pratibha Sharma and Sangeeta Kaushik gave the vaccine shots to the beneficiaries. Vaccine was administered to the people of age groups 18 to 44 years as well as over 45 years. To enable vaccination of all the Divyang people, arrangements were made to make them reach the centre. Anganwadi workers, NGOs, Divyang groups, their schools and institutions, etc played vital role in this arrangement. Vehicle arrangements were made to bring the divyangs from their homes to the vaccination center. Deputy Director (Social Welfare Department) DP Thakur, probation officer Kamlesh Patel, CPM Tushar Verma, BMC official Ajay Shukla remained present at the vaccination center for making arrangements.
Residents of other districts also reached here for vaccination. Mayank Singh reached here from Bilaspur to get inoculated. Mayank was accompanied by his mother Krishni Singh and was the first person to get vaccinated in the camp.
Another inspirational Divyang who got vaccine here was Gaukaran Patil. He is deaf and dumb and moreover he is not having both the hands. He became an inspiration for other who are avoiding vaccine. His brother Narendra Kumar Patil informed that as Gaukaran is not having both hands, he uses his feet for all the works including eating and communicating through sign language. He is known in the city as a good painter. He received the vaccine shot on the leg. The family decided to get him vaccinated for protecting him from Covid infection. Gaukaran Patil also appealed everyone to get vaccinated.
