The ward corporator of ward No. 12 of Nagar Panchayat Bhakhara Santoshi Nishad opened protest againsit massive corruption in Nagar Panchayat here on Tuesday and he was accompanied with Alderman Ravi Maheshwari and both gheraoed Chief Nagar Palika (CNP) officer and Engineer.
It is worthwhile to mention here that there was a tender of levelling of a stadium in Bhakhara and it was supposed to be levelled with soil and ‘murrum’. The tender was issued to a contractor from Bhakhara, but it was without sanction from the Council members and without the work order for levelling work in Sports Ground, it was with nexus of CNP officer and Engineer the contractor was made payment of Rs 1.50 lakh.
But since the procedure of release of funds are with the CMO Engineer Nagar Panchayat President, the ward corporator Satoshi Nishad on getting information reached Nagar Panchayat Bhakhara along with other people of the ward and having proof and evidence in his hands. Here the corporator Roshan Kela and V-P Nagar Panchayat Dileshwar Sahu also sought information about the corruption by CNP Officer and Engineer in this regard.
But the three were kept in dark and made excuses the whole day and dilly-delaying the answer from the officer. So failing to get the reply, corporator Santoshi Nishad staged sit-in, in front of Nagar Panchayat office. On getting information in this regard, BCC President Mukesh Kosare along with former President Vinod Sahu, Somnath Sahu, Praveen Kosare reached Nagar Panchayat office and here Mukesh Kosare came down heavily against the officers and charged that without confirming the work done at physical level, they have released the payment.
Apart from this the people of nearby ward also denied of any work taking place and when efforts were made to take information in this regard from responsible officer, they started saving their faces and dilly-delaying the issue.
On the other hand, local corporator from ruling party Roshan Kela and V-P Nagar Panchayat Daleshwar Sahu held the need for free & fair inquiry into the matter saying that everyone is in trouble due to highhandedness on part of CNP office and Engineer. Commenting about payment to the contractor without any physical work on the ground, coroprator Santoshi Nishad said that this should be closely investigated and added that information in this regard has been sent to senior officers of the Department and warned that if there is no free & fair inquiry into the matter and if guilty are not punished, then he will be forced to take it to street and he would enter indefinite strike and protest.
