BSP officers observe blackout to protest against disinvestment of PSUs

Bhilai, Mar 17: Responding to the call of Steel Employees Federation of India (SEFI), the executives of Bhilai Steel Plant observed blackout for 15 minutes on Tuesday evening. It was a part of their nationwide protest against disinvestment of Steel PSUs. SEFI Chairman Narendra Kumar Banchhor informed that on the call of Steel Executive Federation of India (SEFI), the executives of Bhilai Steel Plant kept the lights off at their homes for 15 minutes during 19:00 hrs to 19:15 hrs on Tuesday. He expressed grave concern over disinvestment of steel PSUs and stated that fighting against all odds of the prevailing pandemic, executives at Steel PSUs have shown exemplary courage to achieve the targets of the Company. A feeling will grow particularly in executive fraternity, that unnecessary proposals of disinvestment of steel PSUs will definitely hamper the economy a large extent. He added that the entire nation is shocked over the Government decision that bare minimum PSUs will remain only in the strategic sector and others will either be sold off or closed. It is known to everyone that PSUs have played the major role in the infrastructure development of our nation and it ensures products and services to the public at an affordable price, while competing with private sectors further, CPSUs could play a lead role in the Government policy of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Steel Sector PSUs have not only created employment in the last six decades through steel plants in various places of the country, but also holistic development of their vicinity through health, education, basic infrastructure and CSR activities. Today, the famous, well-educated and able class known as “middle class” in the country was basically able to flourish due to similar public sector undertakings and led to the economic, educational progress of the country. There is a dire need to save this inclusive model of development, so that it can build strong citizens and a strong nation.
