Congmen stage chakkajam in support of farmers

Bhilai, Feb 06: Expressing solidarity with the farmers struggling for rollback of new agriculture laws, the Congress Party workers staged demonstrations across the district on Saturday. The Congress Party workers staged road blockades on national highway in lines of the call of Farmers’ Organisations in New Delhi. It needs to be mentioned here that the agitating farmers staged chakkajam in New Delhi during 12:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs. Following the same strategy, the Congress party workers staged chakkajam at the same time here in Durg.
District Congress Committee had entrusted the responsibility of staging demonstrations at various spots to different Block Congress Committee. Here in Bhilai, the main event was held at Kosa Nullah Toll Plaza while another bigger demonstration was staged at Sirsa Gate Square in Old Bhilai. District Police had made elaborate arrangements in view of three-hour long demonstration. As the traffic movement was not possible on the national highway during this period, Police had made arrangements of diversions for private and passenger vehicles. However the heavy vehicles were stopped at different spots on national highway. Some of the heavy vehicles were diverted to other routes also.
Overall the demonstration was peaceful and there were no reports of any violence or clash. Police force was deployed at all the dharna spots to maintain law and order. Addressing the demonstrations, the Congress Leaders condemned the Union Government for the controversial agriculture laws. They demanded from the government to withdraw the new laws.
Former minister BD Qureshi, former MLA Bhajan Singh Nirankari, former SADA vice-president Brijmohan Singh, Antyavasayi Corporation Vice President Neeta Lodhi, State General Secretary Rajendra Sahu, Former State General Secretary Siju Anthony, Former State Secretary Mahesh Jaiswal, Dharmendra Yadav, Block Presidents Nand Kumar Kashyap, Tulsi Patel, Pramod Prabhakar, Gaurav Srivastava, Daneshwari Sahu, Mukund Bhau, Mohan Lal Gupta, Subhash Saw, Niranjay Bisai, Rajendra Rajak, Sanjay Sahu, Atul Chand Sahu, Irfan Khan, Manish Jagyasi, Durga Prasad Sahu, Johan Sinha, G Raju, Lokesh Sahu, Neha Sahu, Sujeet Sao, Rajesh Sahu, Janaki Sahu and others were present.
