Collector expresses ire over supply of yellowish tap water

Bhilai, May 17: District Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure convened a meeting of BSP officials involved in water supply department. The agenda of meeting was to ensure supply of crystal clear drinking water in Bhilai Township. At the meeting, Collector expressed ire over the complaints about drinking water.
He said that during his last inspection of the filter plant, instructions were given that citizens should be completely satisfied about drinking water. BSP Officials would have definitely taken action to fix the system but it has not been proved to be effective as the complaints are still pouring in.
He asked the officials to take expert advice and find a solution to overcome the problem for the time being so that the problem of the people could be solved immediately. In order to solve the problem permanently, it is necessary to update the system of the filter plant according to modern technology.
Collector said that the issue of pure drinking water is very significant and the quality of water must be met in all parameters. If the water is pure then its colour should also appear the same way. He said that 100 percent result is required in respect of clean water; there can be no scope for neglecting even one percent in it.
In the meeting, the BSP officials explained the efforts made so far. They said that the water supply being done in the township is completely pure. Technical efforts are being made to improve water colour.
Soon the situation will be better. Along with BSP officials, Bhilai Corporation Commissio-ner Rituraj Raghuvanshi, Executive Engineer of Water Resources Department Suresh Pandey, Executive Engineer of PHE Sameer Sharma and other officials were present.
BSP officials informed that along with other technical efforts, they are trying to seek water from Gangrel Dam. Collector told the BSP management that pure drinking water is a priority subject for which authorities need to work swiftly. He asked them to coordinate with the officials of Water Resources Department for this purpose.
