Children wash utensils in schools on first day !

Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Aug 03: There was enthusiasm among the children for attending school after a long gap when the government took a decision to open schools from August 02 following reduction in the cases of COVID-19.
On the first day ‘Shala Pravesh Utsav’ was observed in many schools and students were welcomed by garlanding them. But in the Pendra block of GPM district a totally different picture came to fore. In the Primary School Kanchandih of this block, students were not welcomed but made to wash dirty utensils. At a time when the picture of studies should have come this opposite picture is making people think about the situation.
This correspondent visited some schools of rural areas on the first day to assess the actual situation. On reaching Kanchandih school he was surprised to find children of Class III and IV washing utensils under the hand pump. When asked that why they are washing utensils in school uniform, children replied that Head Master Otti sir has given them this task. The children washing heap of utensils in school uniform clearly projects the mentality of teachers posted in School Education Department. In this case when Head Master Rampratap Otti was asked he replied that children are assisting them and added that children themselves have voluntarily agreed to wash utensils. No orders have been given to them, HM added. He accepted while talking to this correspondent that the work is wrong but tried to shield himself by mentioning that children are only assisting them.
