Bhilai Steel Plant celebrates 75th Independence Day

Bhilai, Aug 16: The main flag hoisting ceremony of 75th Independence Day at SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant was organised at Ispat Bhavan. Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP) hoisted the flag at Ispat Bhavan. Jawans of the CISF presented a guard of honour. Dasgupta took the salute and addressed the Bhilai Collective on the occasion. Colourful balloons were let off into the sky.
Addressing the Bhilai collective, Dasgupta said, “As we stand beneath our proudly fluttering tricolour, let us salute our great freedom fighters who made the supreme sacrifice during the struggle for independence.
Along with the entire Nation, we are celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of it’s people, culture and achievements.”
SAIL, said Dasgupta in his address, has been an engine of dynamic growth and change, right from its inception and has been a leader and driving force in fulfilling the country’s desire to be self-sufficient in steel… numerous steelmen and women in Bhilai have contributed immensely in meeting the country’s requirement for a wide range of steel.
“Steel making is our business and we must do all that is in our power to meet customer requirements and at the same time ensure best quality, and enhance productivity & profitability of operations, all the while giving top priority to safety of all personnel, whether on rolls or contractual workers. We have many units that are as old as the Plant and therefore timely repair, maintenance and upkeep of equipment becomes mandatory for best results.
The company has invested hugely in our Modex programme and it is high time that we get the best output from the new facilities of production. We must at the same time plug all wastages and explore all avenues for revenue generation.”
Manash Biswas, ED (Mines &Rowghat), Dr SK Issar, ED (M & HS), Rakesh, ED(MM), AK Bhatta, ED (Projects), SK Dubey, ED (P & A), Anjani Kumar, ED (Works), AK Panda, CGM I/c (F & A) were present as special guests on the occasion. Director I/c (BSP) Dasgupta along with the distinguished guests present met and congratulated the 16 Shram awardees from BSP.
Flag hoisting was done to mark Independence Day at major locations of the Plant. Flag hoisting was done by Manash Biswas, ED (Mines & Rowghat) at CEZ complex, Rakesh, ED(MM) at Refractory Store, AK Bhatta, ED (Projects) at Expansion Building, SK Dubey, ED (P & A) at HRD Centre, Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) at Sanyantra Bhavan and UK Jha, CGM (TSD) at Township building. HoDs hoisted the flag at their respective departments while Presidents of respective Clubs hoisted the flag at Ispat Clubs.
As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, 75 saplings were planted at ispat Bhavan and near Maitri Bagh. A Quiz on India@75 was organised for Management Trainees at HRD Centre. An online ‘Kavi Sammelan’ was organised by Rajbhasha Department. An Exhibition Women’s Hockey Match was held at Handball Ground,
