Bhilai Commissioner inspects Filter Plant, checks purity of drinking water

Bhilai, Oct 18: Bhilai Municipal Commissioner Prakash Surve conducted surprise inspections of 66 and 77 MLD water treatment plants on Monday during his morning visit. He took information about the process being adopted for water purification and inspected the filter beds, flocculators, aeration chambers, wash water and other places of water purification plant.
Taking stock of each and every process of water purification, instructions were given to the officers present to ensure that the arrangement of pure drinking water should be maintained continuously in every ward of the corporation area. After reaching the lab of the filter plant, he had a long discussion with the chemist, and in his presence got tested the elements found in the water and the turbidity tested. He instructed to maintain register related to the test to be done for the purity of water. The corporation commissioner took information about the entire process right from water coming from Sheonath river to the distribution.
He directed that the availability of resources like chlorine, bleaching and other resources used for water purification should be available in sufficient quantity. After reaching the water testing lab, the records maintained were observed according to the date.
The commissioner asked to organize a record of water testing of samples taken from water tank and last water source every day. During the inspection at 66 MLD he collected information related to maintaining cleanliness in the water treatment plant and periodically checking and maintaining equipment like motor pumps, electronic panels etc. To ensure that pure drinking water can be supplied to the citizens of Municipal Corporation Bhilai area, the team of Water Works Department is engaged in its work with full dedication. Additional Commissioner Ashok Dwivedi, Health Officer Dharmendra Mishra, Executive Engineer Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Engineer Brijesh Srivastava and Deputy Engineers Arpit Banjare and Basant Sahu were present. during the surprise inspection.
