Dhamdha Police tightens noose around bootleggers, bookies and gamblers

Bhilai, Jul 30: Under the crime prevention and control exercise, teams of various police stations are taking regular action against the people involved in illegal activities of bootlegging, gambling and betting. Strict vigil is being maintained on the activities of suspects and criminal record holders.
In this sequel, a team of Dhamdha Police Station rounded up three ruffians on charges of bootlegging and recovered illicit liquor from their possession. Further, four were arrested for gambling and one for accepting bets on satta-patti. Inspector Trinath Tripathi (SHO, Dhamdha) informed that under the directions of SP Prashant Agrawal and supervision of ASP (Rural) Anant Sahu, they are taking action against the people involved in illegal activities. Acting on a tip off, they conducted raid at village Sukhrikhurd and rounded up Kamlesh Manikpuri (34) with 18 quarters of liquor worth Rs 1440. Another bootlegger Khamlal Sahu (36) son of Tularam Sahu a resident of village Thengabhata was arrested with 16 quarters of liquor worth Rs 1480 and Narendra Rai (46) son of Vishram Rai a resident of village Mohlai was arrested with 16 quarters of liquor worth Rs 1600. They have been booked under the provisions of Section 34 (1) of Excise Act.
In another case, one Tularam Ratnakar (35) son of Bhaktu Ratnakar a resident of village Bharni was arrested on charges of accepting bets of the banned satta-patti. Betting records and Rs 1250 cash was recovered from him. A case has been lodged against him under section 4 (a) of the Public Gambling Act.
In another case, police team conducted raid at a gambling den and caught four persons red-handed while gambling on playing cards. The arrested accuseds are identified as Tijau Ram (33) son of Kaliram Dhivar; Hari Ram Markandey (64) son of Latel Markandey; Santosh Kumar Yadav (45) son of Bali Ram Yadav and Manharan Dhivar (43) son of Fandiram Dhivar, all residents of village Motimpur. Charges have been framed against them under section 13 of the Public Gambling Act.
Nagendra Banchhor, Head Constable Yashwant Singh, Constables Komal Singh, Dinesh Daharia, Amit Verma and Manharan Banjare played a vital role in arresting the accused.
