Man held for killing fellow worker in BSP

Bhilai, Jul 22: Police have arrested a man on charges of murdering his fellow worker in Bhilai Steel Plant. The accused had borrowed some amount and killed the lender to avoid returning the money. Police have arrested the accused and further investigations are on.
Police have recovered the gold chain, finger rings of the deceased from the possession of the accused. Police have also collected vital evidence including the rod used in the crime.
While addressing media persons here at the Police Control Room on Thursday, ASP (City) Sanjay Dhruv informed that on July 20, they had received a complaint regarding missing of an BSP employee identified as Jagat Ram (55).
He had gone to General Shift duty on July 19 but did not return back. After lodging the complaint, police launched investigations and soon Jagat Ram’s vehicle was found parked near SMS2 of Bhilai Steel Plant.
Police started searching him inside the plant and all other places. On July 21, a body was found near the Castor Section of SMS2. Police team reached the spot and the body was sent for autopsy after performing inquest.
On instructions of SP Prashant Agrawal, senior police officers including ASP (City) Sanjay Dhruv, ASP (Rural) Anant Kumar, CSP (Bhilai) Rakesh Joshi, CSP (Chhawani) Vishwas Chandrakar and Forensic Expert Mohan Patel conducted the crime scene investigation.
Prima facie the case appeared to be a homicide and later on the Short PM confirmed it. A case was lodged under sections 302, 201 of IPC. Inspector Bhushan Ekka (SHO, Bhatti), Inspector Suresh Dhruva (SHO, Supela), Inspector Vishal Sone (SHO, Chhawani) and Inspector Gaurav Tiwari (i/c Cyber Cell) were directed to explore all the angles of this case.
During investigations, the cops questioned his fellow workers, family members and examined the CCTV footage. According to some eyewitnesses, Jagat Ram was last seen with his fellow worker R Venkateshwar Rao at around 17:30 hrs on July 19.
Jagat Ram’s son also informed that his father had told that he is going to meet R Venkateshwar Rao. As Rao’s duty was in Night Shift that day but he was seen with Jagat Ram in the evening near work place, police took him into custody for questioning. Initially he tried to mislead the cops but during sustained interrogation, he confessed to have killed Jagat Ram.
Rao revealed that he had borrowed Rs 1.5 lakh from Jagat Ram and to avoid returning the money back, he killed Jagat Ram. As per the plan, he called Jagat Ram near Machine Number 6, Segment Plant 1-2 in SMS#2 and attacked him with a rod on head.
Thereafter, Rao dumped Jagat Ram’s body inside a bunker and closed the door. On the basis of his statement, police recovered Jagat Ram’s gold chain and rings from the possession of the accused. The rod used in the crime was also seized from him.
Head Constable Lallan Singh, Chandra Shekhar Banjir, Santosh Mishra and Constable Tarkeshwar Sahu, Abdul Shafiq, Murli Soni, Rajendra Bansod, Shailesh yadav, Heeralal Deshmukh, Vijay Shukla, Ravi Yadav and Suryaprakash Sahu played vital role in solving
the case.
