BSP organises medical camp in Khodgaon Village of Rowghat

Bhilai, Feb 20: A medical camp was organised by SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Mines CSR Department at Panchayat Building of village Khodgaon near Rowghat Mines Project on Feb 18, 2021. The camp covered population residing in Khodgaon, Anjrel, Saralbhat, Supgaon, Bharanda, Bijli, Kharkagaon and other nearby villages.
As many as 210 villagers including women and children participated in the medical camp. A total of 110 patients were treated and given medicines free of cost. Two patients including a boy with critical ailment would be referred to JLN Hospital at Bhilai for further treatment. Sanitary napkins were also distributed at the medical camp.
The BSP Mines team brought along four doctors including a paediatrician, a gynaecologist, a general surgeon and a general medicine practitioner along with two pharmacists to the camp.
The BSP Mines Team had announced earlier at a meeting with villagers on Feb 12, 2021 that the camp would be organised, following which necessary permissions were taken from SDM and village heads including panchayat members were informed.
The BSP Mines Team also involved other organisations for publicity about the camp beforehand. SAIL-BSP has initiated mining iron ore from a mining block at Anjrel recently.
The medical camp is part of several CSR activities that the Plant and its Mines CSR Dept has been engaging in areas surrounding Rowghat Mining Project, including villages surrounding Anjrel where the interim mining has been started till mining activities begin from Rowghat Minehead.
It is worth mentioning that SAIL-BSP has been carrying out CSR activities in 71 Mines Buffer Zone villages including 49 in Rajhara Mines area and 22 in Rowghat Mines area with an emphasis on education of tribals, medical & health services, installing solar pumps for drinking water, sports & cultural activities, and above all for employment and skill generation.
Organising regular medical camps in surrounding villages of Rowghat Mines since July 2009, providing free treatment for critical patients referred from these camps to JLN Hospital Bhilai, financially aiding and providing medicines to Dandak Van Dispensary run by paramilitary force (BSF) from 2014, Mines CSR Dept has been facilitating Medical & Health Services in aspirational districts of Narayanpur and Antagarh in Bastar.
