Collector reviews Health Department programmes

Bhilai, Aug 07: On Saturday, Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure chaired a review meeting of the health department. He directed the officers, who are monitoring various programmes, to pay attention towards the flagship schemes of the government. If the programme is lacking behind in any aspect, Collector asked them to correct the same by the next month.
The next review meeting of the health department will be held on September 15. Collector said that action will be taken against the monitoring officers and responsible staff if the expected results are not achieved. Collector further said that goals related to health are very important.
Due to Corona Pandemic, there was a big responsibility on the health machinery and after the second wave, now there is an opportunity to complete the work which could not be done during the peak period of pandemic.
Bhilai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi, Additional Collector Nupur Rashi Panna, Risali Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prakash Sarwe, CMHO Dr Gambhir Singh Thakur and other officials were present.
Collector said that Covid Management is the top priority. He asked to keep following the previous strategy of random sampling of street vendors and the high risk categories. Sampling would continue in the railway stations and bus stands as earlier.
Officials said that about 2800 sampling is being done every day. Sampling is also being done at the railway station. Out of these, 17 positive patients who arrived from other places have been traced. So far 14 containment zones have been created and strict monitoring is being done. Officials informed that more cases have been reported in the Kumhari area.
Collector gave instructions to the officers to increase the sampling in Kumhari. He also reviewed the vaccination programme and said that with a better strategy efforts shall be made to get more and more people vaccinated.
During discussion on dengue cases, the officials informed that 11 cases of dengue have been tested in the district so far. Six of these cases are from other districts. Among these, 4 are from Nagpur, 2 from Raipur and 1 from Hyderabad.
Collector directed to continue the dengue control operations effectively. He also gave instructions for spraying Tamiphos widely in hotspots and prone areas. Officials said that at present 10,000 testing kits for dengue are available.
Collector inquired about the work being done on the identification of patients of diseases like TB and leprosy. Officials replied that 145 new patients of leprosy have been identified. 963 TB patients have been identified. Collector said that TB patients should be identified by conducting an in-depth survey in all slums, industrial areas and medical treatment should be provided immediately after identification.
Collector directed to organize camps specially for the haemoglobin test of girls so that anaemia can be tested in this category. At the same time, he said that haemoglobin should also be checked in urban areas through mobile medical units.
Collector also reviewed the work being done towards promoting institutional delivery. He said that it is very important to organize training sessions from time to time to check maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate. Also, special monitoring of high risk pregnancy cases is very necessary, he said.
