Total lockdown in Durg extended till April 19

Considering the uncontrolled rise in Covid-19 cases, the total lockdown in Durg District has been extended till April 19. District Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure has issued orders for the extension of lockdown and has appealed the common citizens to extend their support in controlling the spread of this dreaded virus.
According to the figures issued by the State’s Health and Family Welfare Department on Monday, Durg District is recording around 1600 – 2000 new cases daily in the past few days. At present, there are 17878 active cases in the district. Till date, a total of 56986 people have suffered Corona infection out of which 38155 have recovered while 953 have succumbed to Covid-19. The month of April 2021 recorded the highest number of Covid deaths.
According to the lock down order issued by District Collector, there will be no relaxation in the existing restrictions. The banks as well as liquor shops will remain closed till April 19. People were expecting some relaxation in groceries, vegetables and fruit markets, but the Collector has not provided any relaxation in the same.
All the programmes / services will be prohibited during this period and all the borders will be sealed. Milk vendors and newspaper hawkers will get two hours exemption daily. The exempted categories include Medical stores, fuel stations, power supply, water supply, civic services, vehicles transporting masks, sanitizers, ATM cash vans, etc.
Industrial units and mining units will exemption for operating with minimum required workmen. There will be no exemptions for the Containment Zones. Administration appealed the citizens to stay home and stay safe.
