Figures of dung purchase and compost sale indicate success of Godhan Nyay Yojna

On Tuesday, District Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure reviewed the implementation of Narva, Garuva, Ghuruwa, Bari (NGGB) Scheme and Godhan Nyay Yojna. He sought figures of cow dung procurement till March 31, 2021 and the sale of manure. It was found that till March 31, about 2.5 lakh quintals of cow dung was procured and Rs 4.89 crore was paid to the beneficiaries. From this cow dung, compost manure, super compost and other products were made. About 65000 quintals of vermi compost and super compost were prepared. 74 percent of it has been sold. An amount of about Rs 4.5 crore has been received as well as Rs 50 lakh have been transferred to the banks. In this way, manure worth Rs 4.99 crore has been sold. At present, 25% stock of the manure is yet to be sold. Collector issued instructions for selling the same as soon as possible. These figures indicate that as per the intentions of the Chief Minister, the Godhan Nyay Yojna is paving path for establishing self-reliant Gauthans. Collector praised the civic bodies for their good work. He asked the civic bodies which did not make expected progress, to speed up the monitoring and directed them to work on top priority for the Godhan Nyay Yojna. Collector directed the officials to monitor the purchase of cow dung. The beneficiaries should not face any problem in selling cow dung. Arrangement of pits etc must be made according to the in-flow of dung. Collector said that Godhan Nyay Yojana is a scheme which will establish the permanent path of self-reliance.
He asked the officials to ensure proper arrangements from the purchase of cow dung to the manufacture of compost manure and its sale. The sale of fertilizers should be made through societies in rural areas and directly to farmers.
In urban areas, the consumers in need of compost can be contacted. Collector said that there should be a grazing land in every Gauthan. Gauthans should have basic facilities like water and fodder. Cow dung procurement should continue regularly. Along with this, work should be done according to the schedule for the medical examination of animals. Levelling work should be done in Gauthans. He also directed to promote livelihood oriented activities in Gauthans. Bhilai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi, Additional Collector Nupur Rashi Panna, District Panchayat CEO Sachchidanand Alok, Assistant Collector Hemant Nandanwar, Risali Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prakash Sarve and other officers were present in the meeting. Action will be taken against those agricultural extension officers who are not inspecting the Gauthans regularly. Collector said in the meeting that regular inspection and technical guidance is necessary to ensure smooth conduct of activities in the Gauthans. In this regard, the top officials must monitor the works of AREO. He directed to take strict disciplinary action against the officials those who are neglecting this important work.
A lot of work has been done in Gauthans through Gauthan committees. Funds are also made available to Gauthan committees for the purpose. Collector gave instructions to review how the funds can be used in a better way. He instructed the Commissioners in urban areas and municipal officers to review the purchase of cow dung every day.
