Three arrested with huge cache of banned psychotropic drugs

Bhilai, Sep 06: Police have arrested three smugglers and have recovered a huge cache of banned psychotropic drugs and cough syrups from their possession. The accused had been smuggling these drugs from Dhamtari to Durg.
The kingpin of the gang has managed to escape. About 434280 tablets of various brands and 1185 bottles of cough syrup were seized from them. The accused used to carry the drugs on motorcycles and sell it to the addicts.
Addressing media persons here at Police Control Room on Monday, ASP (City) Sanjay Dhruw informed that they are continuously conducting campaign against the illegal trade of the banned and scheduled psychotropic drugs and cough syrups. In this sequel, a team led by CSP Kaushalendra Patel rounded up some suspects on September 05 near Reliance Petrol Pump in Ganjpara. On searching, police recovered 665 Packets of Alfazolam (600 Tablets in each packet, Total 89.908 Kg); 21 Packets Nitrazepam (2.99 kg), Alfazolam (Alphacare) 53 packets (600 tablets in each packet, total 7.56 kg) and 10 crates in Corex syrup 100 ml total 1185 bottles. Police also seized a motorcycle bearing registration number CG 04 8730 from the possession of the accused and cash Rs 1300. Total value of the seized booty is around Rs 20.52 lakhs. The accused were booked under section 22 (b) 8, 27 (a) of the Narcotics Act.
The accused are identified as Surendra Singh (30) son of Late Chatur Singh a resident of Ganjpara, Durg; Sagar Pandey (28) son of Sunil Pandey a resident of Shankar nagar, Durg and Shyam Sen (48) son of Ram Kripal Sen a resident of Jodhapur, Dhamtari.
Nayab Tehsildar Pritam Singh Chauhan, Inspector Rajesh Bagde (SHO, Durg), SI Mukesh Sori, ASI Radhelal Verma, Drug Officer Brijraj Singh, Drug Officer (Dhamtari) Sandeep Kumar Suryavanshi, Head Constable Yogesh Chandrakar, Constable Javed Khan, Pradeep Singh, Chitrasen Sahu, Dhirendra Yadav, Tileshwar Rathor and Farooq Khan played vital role in arresting the accused.
