‘Jio Khulkar’ special fortnight concludes

Emphasising on the disastrous consequences of drugs and substance abuse, Durg Police observed a special fortnight under its “Jio Khulkar” campaign. This special fortnight concluded here at Civic Centre on Thursday. During the last 15 days, awareness programmes and exhibitions were organised at several places and at the same time, strict action was taken against the people involved in bootlegging, smuggling and illegal trade of liquor, narcotics and other drugs. Superintendent of Police Prashant Thakur graced the concluding ceremony as chief guest.
Under the Jio Khulkar Drug de-addiction campaign, this special fortnight commenced with an awareness programme in Patan after which similar events were held in Shikshak Nagar in Durg, Sheetla Mandir Chhawani, Bharti College Pulgaon, Junwani Chowk Smriti Nagar, Jeora Sirsa, LitiyaSamariya, Khurshipar, Ruabandha, SikolaBhata, Maroda, Kumhari and Civic Center.
Durg Police is conducting this campaign in association with Social Welfare Department, National Legal Services Authority and various NGOs like Kalyani Sansthan and spiritual organisations including gayatri Pariwar, Brahmakumaris and Anand Marg. In view of the appreciable success of this special fortnight, SP Prashant Thakur said that the campaign would be intensified across the district in the days to come. The awareness programmes and public outreach initiative under this campaign will be conducted on every Friday. Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Rohit Jha congratulated all the members and organizations of the team. He added that this campaign is not being run for any publicity but with the sole intention of assisting the addicts who want to overcome. CSP (Durg) and Nodal Officer Vivek Shukla informed that during the special fortnight, counselling was provided to several families which were suffering due to drugs and substance abuse. Three of the addicts were admitted to the de-addiction center. Towards the conlusion of the programme, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) PraggyaMeshram proposed the vote of thanks. It needs to be mentioned here that Durg Police are constantly taking action against illegal traffickers. In addition to the basic policing, they are also delivering their social responsibility by providing support to the addicts through counselling and admitting them in the de-addiction centres.
During the concluding event, people were explained about the ill effects of drugs. Members of spiritual organizations such as Brahmakumaris, Gayatri Parivar and Anand Marg spoke about the spiritual ways of de-addiction. IPTA team led by Rajesh Srivastava staged a street play on the concerned topic. Representatives of all the associated organisations were honoured with citations and mementos.
