Police takes action against restaurants for serving hookahs

Bhilai, Jul 18: Durg Police conducted a special drive on Saturday evening and conducted surprise checks at various restaurants, cafes and hotels of the twin-city. Three of the hotels were found illegally serving hookahs to the customers. Police took action against them under the provisions of COTPA Act. On the instructions of Superintendent of Police (Durg) and leadership of City Superintendent of Police (Chhawani), a special team was formed with SHOs of nine police stations which conducted raids at almost 50 cafes, restaurants and hotels in Durg-Bhilai city to check the illegal activities and allowing the customers after the permitted time. The teams targeted the hotels and cafes in Smriti Nagar, Supela, Mohan Nagar, Durg and Pulgaon areas. Action was taken against Cafe Flora in Smriti Nagar, Cross Road in Smriti Nagar and Golden Lagoon in Mohan Nagar for serving hookahs illegally and keeping the establishments open after the permissible time period.
