BSP records Best Ever Monthly Performances in several areas

Bhilai, Sep 01: SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has set best ever monthly performance records in August 2021 in several areas of production as well as productivity parameters.
While the Plant’s Finishing Mills together recorded highest ever monthly finished steel production of 3,42,467 T in Aug 21 as against previous high of 3,34,026 T in Jan 2020, several individual shops and departments including Plate Mill, Universal Rail Mill, Bar & Rod Mill, Sinter Plant 3, Ore Handling Plant A & B and Blast Furnaces have recorded best ever monthly performances in August 21.
The Plant’s Plate Mill has recorded best ever monthly production of 15,900 Tonnes (T) of boiler quality (BQ) plates in Aug 2021 surpassing the previous best record of 15,126 T in March 2018. Bar & Rod Mill, a Modex unit has recorded best ever monthly production of 62,681 T in August 2021, surpassing the previous best record of 61,155 T in March 2021.
Universal Rail Mill that rolls out world’s longest 130 metre rails too has created new records in August 21 with support from SMS-2, SMS-3, Traffic, PPC, RCL, RITES and all other associated Departments like INCOS, ETL, C&IT, Instrumentation, Central Mechanical Departments too has recorded best ever monthly performance since inception.
The modern mill recorded best ever monthly production of 64,212 T of prime rails in Aug 2021, surpassing the previous best record of 61,987 T in March 2021. The Mill that created new daily records during the month also recorded best ever monthly production of 69,634 T of finished rails in Aug 2021, surpassing the previous best record of 68,100 T in March 2021.
The Plant’s Sinter Plant 3 recorded best ever monthly production of 5,04,821 T in August 21 as against previous best record of 4,81,071 T in March 21. The Plant’s Ore Handling Plant A & B too have recorded best ever monthly unloading of 8,83,252 T in August 21 as against previous best of 8,52,741 T in July 2021. OHP A & B also recorded highest ever handling of 17,82,637 T of material in any month in Aug 21, surpassing previous high of 17,67,487 T in March 21.
Excelling in techno-economic paramaters, the Plant’s Blast Furnaces have recorded best ever coke rate of 429 kg per tonne of hot metal (kg/THM) in August 21 as against previous best of 434 kg/THM recorded in January 21. Total metallic charge of 1,118 kg per tonne (kg/T) at SMS 3 in August 21 is also the best ever as against previous best of 1,122 kg/T recorded in June 21.
