Suspected attempt of human trafficking foiled

Bhilai, Aug 26: With the active working of Durg Police and the vigilant approach of the youth outfit of a political party, a suspected attempt of human trafficking was foiled here in Durg on Thursday. The girls of underprivileged families were being trafficked to Kolkata in pretext of job in railways. Police team has rescued the girls from the Railway Station and the suspected traffickers have been taken in custody.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha District President Nitesh Sahu informed that a person who hails from some other state was preparing to take some girls of Chhattisgarh to Kolkata (West Bengal) in pretext of making them appear in the Physical Efficiency Test of Indian Railways. BJYM came to know about this suspicious matter after which they immediately contacted the family members of the girls. When asked about the appointment letter or admit card, the families informed that they have not received any such documents. BJYM found that most of the targeted girls hail from underprivileged families. They immediately contacted CSP (Durg) after which a police team was sent to Durg Railway Station and the girls were rescued. The accused was taken in custody. Further investigations are on. Police had not issued any official statement till filing of this report.
