Stadium remains deserted on Sports Day

Mungeli, Aug 30: At a time when the state government is making all out efforts to promote sporting talents, no sporting activities were organized in the district on National Sports Day. As per information received, lack of fund prevented from conduct of any sports activity. After the formation of district, sports persons are getting demoralized for lack of infrastructure and guidance. The post of Sports Officer lie vacant for two years. Swimmers from the district has even competed up to national level but there is no swimming pool here.
The inactiveness on the part of local MLA is also the reason for the district falling back in development. As MLA resides in Bilaspur he did not take any interest for National Sports Day and the officials also kept quiet. In this connection when MLA was contacted over phone he cut excuse of busy in meeting.
Congress District President Sagar Singh accepted that no sports event on National Sports Day is a major lapse and will be take information in this regard.
