Smuggler arrested with 14 kgs cannabis

Police have arrested a 21-year-old person on charges of smuggling of the banned cannabis. 14 kgs of cannabis worth Rs 70000 was recovered from him. He was smuggling the banned narcotics in a Mahindra Bolero SUV.
Inspector Shruti Singh (SHO, Anda) informed that on the directions of Superintendent of Police (Durg) Prashant Agrawal and guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (Durg, Rural) Anant Sahu and SDOP (Patan) Akashrao Girepunje, they are maintaining watch on the activities of the suspects and criminal record holders. The network of informers has also been activated for ensuring effective crime control and prevention. In this sequel, they received a tip off regarding smuggling of cannabis in a SUV. Police team swung into action and the suspected vehicle was intercepted near Janjgiri Turning. On searching, 70 kgs of cannabis packed in small packets were recovered from the vehicle bearing registration number CG04-JD-1010. The SUV driver was identified as Chandra Prakash (21) son of Kapoor Chandra Mandle a resident of Station Maroda, Newai PS. The narcotics worth Rs 70000 and the vehicle were seized from the accused and he has been booked under the provisions of NDPS Act.
Head Constable Kamlesh Sahu, Constable Ashwani Kumar Yadu, Tejeshwar Sahu, Rameshwar Koma and G Jagmohan played vital role in arresting the accused.
