Several functions organised on Women’s Day in BSP

Bhilai, Mar 08: SAIL Bhilai Steel Plant’s Blast Furnace team organised a function for women employees and contractual workers engaged in different sections of all the Blast Furnaces and slag granulation plant in blast furnaces on the occasion of Women’s Day on Monday. CGM Personnel Nisha Soni was the chief guest on the occasion.
Suryavanshi, CGM Iron and Tapas Dasgupta, CGM Blast Furnaces, Sikha Dubey, GM (Pers.), Seeja Mathew, GM (Pers.) were present on the occasion.
Among different activities organised by Team Blast Furnaces at the function, a lively quiz was organised in which more than 50 women employees in the rank of ACT, OCT and female PRW workers participated with great enthusiasm.
One participant, Kevra Sinha, a female PRW worker whose job is to clean the conveyor belt and control room of Slag Granulation Plant for Blast Furnaces 4, 5 and 6 took the name of SAIL Chairman, Soma Mandal as a woman is heading SAIL with a sense of pride, when invited to speak at the women’s day function in blast furnaces. Prizes were given on the spot to winners of the quiz.
Several other functions were organised at SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant on the occasion of Women’s Day. As a part of International Women’s Day celebration, Civil Defence Organisation, Bhilai organised a one-day workshop “Hum Bhi Hai Taiyar” at HRDC Assembly Hall for the housewives of officers. The workshop covered the topics of Home Security, First Aid, Rescue services and Disaster Management along with demonstration. The chief guest on the occasion was Abhilasha Bhatta, Addl Vice-President, Bhilai Mahila Samaj.
The Plant’s Steel Melting Shop 3 also organised a function on the occasion of Women’s day. A short film on Women’s Empowerment was screened. The female workers and employees were given health tips by Inderjeet Kaur, Health Educator including advice of diet, exercises and how to tackle depression etc.
A lively dumb charades game session for women employees was also organised. K Bhattacharya, CGM (SMS 3) was the chief guest. P Bangale, GM I/c, SMS 3, SK Agarwal, GM, Jitendra Kumar, GM, Pushpa Ambrose, GM were present at the function.
The Plant’s Public Relations Dept also organised a function to felicitate women employees working in PR Dept and L & A Dept along with a contractual female worker engaged in office-cleaning job.
Several other departments including Services Organisation, Materials Mgt Dept., Finance Dept and other shops also organised functions to mark Women’s Day. The Plant’s HR Dept organised several activities for women employees including Elocution competition and Quiz etc at a function at Bhilai Niwas.
