Remdesivir black marketing accused surrenders

Bhilai, May 19: An absconding accused of black marketing of Remdesivir injection has surrendered before the court. His accomplice was arrested on May 13. With court’s permission, Chhawani Police has taken the accused in custody. It could be recollected here that on May 13, Food and Drug Department had received a tip off regarding a person who was selling Remdesivir injection on high price.
After receiving information from Drug Inspector Brijlal Singh and Drug Inspector Ishwari Prasad Singh, the team of Chhawani Police Station led by Inspector Gopal Vaishya laid a trap and the black marketer was rounded up near Basant Talkies in Power House.
Six nos Remdesivir injections were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Salman (28) son of Karamat Ali a resident of Jamul. He was booked under the provisions mentioned in section 18(c) of Drug and Cosmetics Act.
His accomplice has managed to escape from the spot. Police had extracted information regarding him from the accused and was constantly making efforts to trap him. Finally the absconding accused surrendered before the court of Harendra Singh Nath (JMFC, Durg) on Tuesday.
The accused Javed alias Umar Khan (25) son of Anwar Khan a resident of Mathpara, Jamul has been taken in custody by Chhawani Police. The vehicle, mobile and sim used in the crime have been seized from his possession.
