Durg sets record of providing 100+ days employment to above 10000 villagers

Bhilai, Mar 12: More than 10000 villagers in the district have crossed the 100 days of employment under MGNREGA. According to the data released on March 11, 10176 people have got 100 days of MGNREGA employment in the district.
This year 91000 people got employment through MGNREGA. Last year 73000 people got employment under this scheme. In the past years, around 5000 people were able to get 100 days of MGNREGA employment.
Due to lockdown this year, the state government provided thrust to MGNREGA to ensure employment to maximum people in rural areas.
District Panchayat CEO Sachchidanand Alok informed that quality and utility oriented works of MGNREGA were launched in rural areas under the guidance of Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure.
A large number of people got employment in these works. During the Corona period, MGNREGA works continued as per the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Work was conducted with social distancing and taking full care of sanitization.
Workers those who returned back to Chhattisgarh from other states also got employment, which enabled them to support their family even during the Corona period.
CEO added that the maximum emphasis has been laid on water conservation works in rural areas. Special efforts have been made for the rejuvenation of nullahs through Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s scheme “Narva Garwa Ghurwa Bari”.
In Durg district, renovation, desilting etc of several nullahs have been done through MGNREGA. Paddy platform, grazing land development, fish pond construction etc have also been done.
In this way, livelihood activities have increased rapidly in the district. CEO informed that such concrete works of water conservation have been done through MGNREGA. Its fruitful results will be visible in the coming years with the rise in ground water level.
This will create special growth prospects for agricultural development. CEO informed that they selected the works of rural development with the prospects of increasing the income of farmers.
He informed that 49.51 lakh labour days have been created, which is a record. It is worth mentioning that this figure is of March 11 and by March 31, these figures will increase even more.
