Collector reviews monsoon preparedness in Bhilai

Bhilai, June 10: With monsoon round the corner and anticipation of excessive rainfall, Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure chaired an important meeting in Bhilai Municipal Corporation to review the preparations.
Collector said that continuous monitoring of waterlogged areas is necessary in case of excessive rainfall. Along with this, maintaining a strong system in view of seasonal diseases is also very important.
Corporation Commi-ssioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi informed that a massive campaign for cleaning the drains has been launched.
Retaining walls have been constructed in the drains which were always prone to water logging. Widening of drains has also been done by removing encroachments. In the meeting, Collector reviewed the ongoing construction works in all the zones and regarding the fulfilment of the targets.
The issue of water-logging in railway land near canal road in Zone 3 of Khursipar was also discussed. Commissioner said that due to water logging at this place, drainage system has been arranged by the BMC.
Collector asked him to discuss the issue with the railway officials and ask them for a permanent solution. Later the Commissioner conducted discussions with the railway officials and prepared a preliminary blueprint for resolving the problem.
Collector congratulated the Bhilai Corporation team for the good results of tree plantation last year. Collector said that the saplings planted on the road sides last year have grown well.
Some tree-guards that are worn out should be replaced or repaired so that the plants can grow safely. He said that some plants could not survive; new plants should be planted in their place. Collector also reviewed the situation of dengue. Commissioner said that the dengue control team is busy in
its work.
Tamiphos has been distributed door to door. Collector asked about the locality from where the last case of dengue was detected. Commissioner replied that in the month of February, dengue was reported in Ward 23. The BMC staff is alert regarding dengue and action is being taken as per protocol. Collector took the report of morning visit from all the Zone Commissioners.
Zone Commissioners informed that they go out on a visit at 06.30 in the morning and share photos everyday. Collector said that morning visit is very important, as this leads to effective monitoring of the cleanliness system, as well as useful feedbacks are received from the public regarding cleanliness and other arrangements of the corporation.
