PGCON observes World AIDS Day

Bhilai, Dec 03: PG College of Nursing always plays a leading role in contributing its services in every National Health programmes. In this regard World Aids Day was organized in college premises by community health nursing Department.
This year the theme was- “End Inequalities: End AIDS”. Welcome address was given by Dr Prof Sreelata Pillai, Vice Principal, and HOD Community health nursing department.
Unveiling of theme was done by Dr Prof Abhilekha Biswal, Principal, PG College of Nursing. In her address she focused on all the concepts regarding HIV and its prevention and also encouraged and motivated the staff and students to create awareness in community regarding prevention of HIV.
Regarding the theme she highlighted the measures needed to tackle inequalities which include: Community led and people centred infrastructure; Equitable access to medicines, vaccines and health technologies; Human Rights, to build trust and tackle pandemics; Elevating essential workers, and providing them with the resources and tools they need; People centred data systems that highlight inequalities. She further added every minute that passes we are losing a precious life to AIDS.
We don’t have time, so we must “End Inequalities, End Aids” Also the students of the college enthusiastically participated in Poster, Slogan and Rangoli Competitions and BSc N Final Year students presented a skit on this occasion. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Prof Jaya Chakraborty (Professor, Community Health Nursing Dept) and programme was moderated by Rincy Mary (Asst Professor, Community Health Nursing Dept).
The function was organized by faculties of Community health Nursing Department, Chandrakala Lilhare, Neha R Emanuel, Arpana Mohatewar, Pooja Thakre and Kiran Banjare and the M Sc Nursing Final Year and Previous Year students played a key role in organising the function which was highly appreciated by Principal, Staff and students of the college.
