Infection risk on rise; need to take precautions devotedly

Bhilai, Mar 16:
A sharp increase has been registered in Covid19 cases across the country. Durg District is also witnessing steep rise in Covid19 cases. 233 people tested Corona positive and four patients succumbed to this dreaded pandemic on Tuesday. On March 1, 47 new positive patients from Corona were identified in Durg district. Their number increased to 155 on March 15. In this way, the number of new patients per day tripled within fifteen days. Zone 1 of Bhilai had 3 Corona positives on March 01. Ten days later, 36 people were found corona positive in this area. If we examine the data of ten days, 42 people have been tested positive in Nehru Nagar. Zone 1 of BMC is the area where posh colonies like Nehru Nagar and Hudco are located. In these places, people travel a lot in connection with the work within the country and abroad. Similarly, the number of cases of corona has increased rapidly in areas such as the Sarafa Market of Durg. Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure has urged people to get tests done soon after experiencing the symptoms. Do wear masks and do not travel unnecessarily. It is noteworthy that Collector has issued instructions on Tuesday to impose fine of Rs 200 rupees from the citizens for not wearing masks in public places.
The cases of corona had reduced considerably in the past. Until a few days ago, the number of patients at Shankaracharya Covid Hospital was only 19. Now their number has increased to 69. Currently 12 patients are in ICU and 3 patients are on ventilator. Shankaracharya Hospital Covid Centre in-charge Dr Sugam Sawant informed that the best treatment is being given to all the patients.
The administration tried to explore the causes of Corona spread in the localities where corona cases have increased rapidly. In Nehru Nagar, Corona cases increased due to the large number of open gyms, Mall, hotels, markets and increased movement of people outdoors. Use of elevators is also a possible cause in Chauhan Town. HUDCO has a large number of joint families. Some people are elderly and they often delay in making the decision to go for a test. In Bhilai Township areas such as Sector-7, Sector-2, Sector-4 and Sector-10; the large number of visitors at cricket ground, tuitions etc is likely to be the cause of infection spreading. The market is very dense in Pragati Nagar and Supela. On the other hand, there is a large population of elderly people in Smriti Nagar.
It is very important to get Corona tested as soon as symptoms emerge so that the infection can be controlled as soon as possible. The delay in testing worsens the patient’s condition and increases the risk of infecting the primary contact. Moving in public places and meeting people without getting tests also increases the chances of making others infected. The second big reason is travel history. It has been discovered in some cases that people returned from large social gatherings in other states have become infected.
On the instructions of Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, camps are being organized for testing in the sensitive areas. For the prevention of Corona, it is very important to have a test done in case of symptoms or when there is a primary contact. Any kind of negligence can put the life in grave danger. It is noteworthy that 2100 tests are being done in the district every day.
Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure had instructed all the Corporation Commissioners to ensure that people must wear masks in public places. A penalty of Rs 3 lakhs has been imposed in about 9000 cases of mask violation.
