Janmashtami celebrated with devotion

Birkoni, Sep 04: The birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with great devotion and devotees were witnessed immersed in devotion as the atmosphere resonated with temple bells and blowing of conch shells. Major Radha Krishna temples of the region were decked in lights and Matki Phod, the symbolic ritual of the festival, was organised in squares and chowks, including Subhash Chowk, Ramjanki Mandir, School Chowk, Sahu Para, Yadav Para and other places.
Several competitive programs were organized by Navodaya Samiti, of the region which witnessed great enthusiasm among the children, attired in costumes of Shri Krishna and Radha. The tableaus of Lord Krishna were decorated, in heavy fineries and ornaments and a bhog of 56 dishes were offered to the Lord, other than a continues spell of bhajan -keertans, which left the entire region drenched in bhakti after a long time. Colour powder murals and rangolis, were made by many on the occasion, and almost every house resonated with celebration and reverence.
As the bells rang the midnight oil, soon after Krishna’s birth, a huge celebration was seen, to mark, the birth of the Lord of love devotion and reverence. Parasadam was distributed among all the devotees to conclude the celebration, which continued till wee hours of the other day.
