6000 quintals of paddy straws donated in 178 gauthans

Bhilai, Nov 29: Under the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s ambitious project – Narva, Garuva, Ghuruwa, Baadi scheme, Gauthans are being developed as the centers of rural economic development and livelihood. Villagers are also increasingly taking interest in promoting this scheme.
A total of 6078 quintals of paddy straws have been donated by the villagers for about 176 gauthans of the district. “Paira Daan” is being done continuously. Baler machine is being used at some places to store the paddy straws in an orderly manner. This machine helps in making bundles of the paddy straws.
District Panchayat CEO Ashwini Dwvangan informed that ‘Paira Daan’ is an important activity for ensuring smooth functioning of the Gauthans. In the past years, the villagers contributed spontaneously and this year too they are generously contributing. Officials are making special efforts for conducting this activity.
They are motivating the villagers through village chaupals. He said that Gauthan is now an important center of the rural economy. The villagers have realised that the Gauthans are to be strengthened and accordingly they are generously coming forward to work in this direction.
District Panchayat CEO said that the highest quantity of 3504 quintals have been donated in Dhamdha development block. The villagers have donated 1775 quintals in development block Patan and 798 quintals in development block Durg.
He said that this year three Gram Panchayats will be awarded for highest contribution in Paira Daan. He added that earlier some farmers used to burn the paddy straws but with the introduction of Gauthans, it is being utilised properly.
Sarpanch Bhupeshwari Rai of Gram Panchayat Dargaon of Janpad Panchayat Dhamdha informed that the farmers have voluntarily donated paddy straws. Village Gauthan Management Committee and Panchayat made people aware about the importance of animals and Gauthans.
Paira has been collected by the farmers of the village to arrange fodder for the cattle. Farmers Chunilal Sahu, Dinbandhu and Bashiram Sahu have made significant contributions in this campaign.
