Interstate gang of looters busted

Bhilai, Mar 07: With the arrest of three ruffians, police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of looters. They attempted loot at a house on Saturday but one of them was caught by locals. Police have recovered booty worth Rs 55000 from their possession. One of the accused is a local while two others are from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
While addressing media persons here at Chhawani on Sunday, ASP (City) Rohit Jha and CSP (Chhawani) Vishwas Chandrakar informed that at around 15:30 hrs on Saturday, Jamul Police received an information regarding a loot incidence at Ward 4 of Jamul. Police team led by Inspector Vishal Sone immediately reached the spot and found that the locals have caught one of the looters.
The accused was immediately taken in custody and during sustained interrogation, he confessed to have committed the crime and further disclosed the names of his accomplices. Search operations were immediately launched and two other accused were also arrested within few hours from Power House.
The accused are identified as Ashish Tiwari (32) a resident of Karnataka and a native of Rewa (MP); Tarachand Rajbhar (33) a resident of Lakhimpur (UP) and Chandra Kumar Sahu (32) a resident of Laxmipara, Jamul. Ashish Tiwari was the one who was caught by the locals.
The accused had teamed up with the aim of committing loots and thefts. As per the plan, they reached the residence of Chameli Verma (55) situated near Durga Mandir in Ward 4.
Ashish Tiwari and Tarachand Rajbhar knocked the door and requested the lady to give some drinking water. When she went inside, they followed her and took her on knife point. They threatened her with a fake pistol and looted the gold mangal sutra, ear rings and Rs 3000 cash from her.
In the meanwhile, she victim started screaming for help. Sensing trouble, the accused tried to escape from the spot. Hearing screams, neighbours came out of their houses and managed to overpower Ashish Tiwari during his attempt to flee from the spot.
He was handed over to cops and later on other two accused were also apprehended. Police recovered three nos iron knifes, one fake pistol (lighter), two nos colour sprays, two nos ropes, one nos tape, and Rs 3000 cash from the possession of the accused.
