Inter-district gang of thieves busted

Bhilai, Jul 29: With the arrest of six ruffians including a juvenile, Police claimed to have busted a gang of thieves which was active in Durg and Rajnandgaon districts and was involved in stealing vehicles and vehicle batteries.
Stolen vehicles and batteries along with the bike and four-wheeler used in the crime were seized from the accused. The accused used to move around in a Mahindra Xylo vehicle and commit thefts. As per the instructions of Superintendent of Police (Durg) Prashant Agrawal and under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Durg Rural) Anant Kumar Sahu and SDOP (Patan) Akash Rao Giripunje, the team of Anda Police Station busted this gang. Two batteries were stolen from a Hyva Truck and a battery of Mahindra Bolero vehicle was stolen on the intervening night of March 10 from village Vinayakpur. FIRs were lodged under section 379 IPC and investigations were launched. On the directions of senior officers, investigation team examined the CCTV footage of the cameras on the road leading to village Vinayakpur and information was collected from the villagers. With sustained efforts, the police team managed to trace the accused and finally all the six were arrested. The arrested accused were identified as Poonam Sahu alias Pappu (22) son of Bhagirathi Sahu a resident of Station Maroda, Vijay Chowk, Police Station Newai; Kamta Thakur alias Bhola (25) son of Bhujbal Thakur a resident of Village Deurkona (Shiv Kokdi) , PS Bori; Gamedas Sahu (33) son of Naval Das Sahu a resident of Station Maroda, Police Station Niwai; Kaushal Kumar Gende (33) son of Takhat Gende a resident of Station Maroda, Umarpoti Road; Nageshwar Yadav (23) son of Hori Lal Yadav a resident of Station Maroda Indira Chowk and a juvenile. They were wanted in theft case of a motorcycle Honda Livo registered in PS Bori; and theft of batteries which occurred in Anda PS area. The accused have been arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.
Inspector Shruti Singh (SHO, Anda); Sub Inspector Baldau Chandrakar; Assistant Sub Inspector Sunderlal Netam; Head Constable Rohit Sahu; Head Constable Kamlesh Sahu; Constable Ashwani Yadu, Constable G Samuel and Cyber Cell staff played vital role in busting the gang.
