Swayamsiddha organises national level ‘Monsoon Fiesta’

Bhilai, Aug 09: ‘Swayamsiddha’ a social organisation, has been a platform for homemakers to showcase their talent for over a decade and a half now. In this sequel, the NGO organised an online competition “Monsoon Fiesta” which met with a tremendous response from women across the States.
More than 70 women participated in this festival meant to bring about a positive change after the weariness that had been gripping the mind ever since the corona outbreak. Since the pandemic, workload on women, in particular homemakers, doubled as along with accomplishing routine tasks, they are predominantly worried about their children’s education, explained Dr Sonali Chakravorty, Director, Swayamsiddha. Therefore, the Director added, it was essential that “She” takes out time for herself to vent out the brimming exhaustion and find mental peace and happiness, which in turn, could obviously prove to be a blessing in disguise towards changing home environment of the family. About the Monsoon Fiesta she informed that a Monsoon Queen contest was organised where women were to take a picture of themselves on the theme “rain”, be it with umbrellas, raincoats and dark overcast clouds etc. The response was overwhelming and women from Bhilai, Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur, Jabalpur, Jagdalpur, Mungeli, Nagpur, Rajnandgaon, Raigarh along with Hubli (Karnataka), Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bangalore, Chennai, Jalgaon, Kolkata, Nainital to Toronto sent their pictures based on the theme. The judges JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Vadodara Director Amol Upadhyay, Fashion Consultant and Lecturer Mamta Ingale, and Dr Shraddha Aggarwal had hard time selecting the winners. Amol Upadhyay said, “I am overwhelmed to see the participation of more than 70 women in the online event. This positive work of social media like WhatsApp is really exemplary.” The judges have announced to give certificates to all the participants on behalf of JD Institute of Fashion Technology. The result of the competition is as follows: Monsoon Queen 2021- First – Reema Deb, Second -Dr Poornima Lal, Third – Asha Sharma and Anita Chakraborty; Jury Award 1- Rukhsana Sheikh,
Jury Award 2 – Triloki Sahu; Face of the Contest – Madhurima Roy, Beautiful Smile – Ruma Bardhan, Mrs Fiesta – Priyanka Divan, Mrs Rainbow-Shobha Sahu, Mrs Energetic – Sonal Dubey, Pick of Monsoon – Veena Gupta, Simple and Elegant – Bindu Nayak. Aparajita, Vishwaroopa, Tejaswini, Swastika and Jagriti Club members and directors Anju Chandniha, Bipasha Haldar, Maneka Verma, Debjani Majumdar, Sheela Prakash, Rita Vaishnav, Soma Bose made special cooperation in the successful organization of the program.
