Recently laid paver blocks found damaged; Commissioner expresses ire

Bhilai, Sep 29: On the instructions of District Collector and Bhilai Municipal Corporation Administrator Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, BMC Commissioner Prakash Sarwe is conducting morning visits regularly. In this sequel, BMC Commissioner conducted morning visit at Ward Number 30 Balaji Nagar and Ward Number 33. Near Shri Ram Chowk, Khursipar English Medium School, he found the paver block installed on roadside was in bad condition.
The paver blocks were damaged to great extent. Surprisingly, the paver blocks were installed on the road side at a cost of about Rs 14 lakhs only few months ago. Commissioner expressed ire and questioned the officers about the cause. The officials were unable to give a satisfactory reply. Commissioner reprimanded the officers and directed them to re-install the paver blocks in an orderly manner. He expressed displeasure over absence of Sub Engineer Chandrakant Sahu during the inspection.
On the second day after receiving instructions from the commissioner, the officials swung into action and got the paver blocks re-installed. During the inspection, Commissioner found that in Yadav Mohalla of Khursipar area, the drain was choked for a long time and had completely collapsed. He gave instructions to prepare a proposal for construction of the drain. He saw the situation of drinking water in Yadav Mohalla of Balaji Nagar. In some houses, there was a complaint about low water pressure in the taps.
Officials of the Water Works Department and the Zone Office informed that the work of laying the pipeline is being done and assured that the problem will be resolved within 20 days. Commissioner said that he will visit again to inspect the system. During the inspection in Balaji Nagar, he gave instructions to impose fine for spreading garbage in the drain.
Health Officer Dharmendra Mishra, Executive Engineer Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Engineer Akhilesh Chandrakar, Deputy Engineer Nitesh Meshram and Zone Health Officer Mahesh Pandey and other employees were present during the inspection.
Corporation Commissioner Prakash Sarwe inspected the work being done on dengue control and prevention. He visited several houses and checked the desert coolers. Water was filled in the coolers of some houses. He instructed to get the coolers dried and use the insecticides. The Health Department was instructed to monitor. He also took information about Temifos distribution, fogging, malaria oil spraying.
