CM visits Bathena; provides Rs 5 lakh aid to bereaved family

Bhilai, Mar 11: On Thursday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel visited village Bathena of Patan Block and met the bereaved family members of Gaikwad family. He paid floral tributes to the five members of the family who were found dead few days ago. He directed the officials to provide Rs 5 Lakh monetary aid to the bereaved family.
IGP Vivekanand Sinha and SP Prashant Thakur detailed the Chief Minister about crime scene and the status of investigation. CM directed the cops to intensify the investigation and bring the truth to fore. District Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, ASP (Rural) Praggya Meshram and other officials were present.
On the other hand, Police are interrogating all the family members, villagers and friends of the Gaikwad family. Till now, statement of over 50 people has been recorded. 17 villagers / farmers informed that the deceased Sanju Gaikwad had purchased paddy from them but had not made the payment. According to these farmers, Sanju had to pay them around Rs 6.40 lakh. Police are further interrogating the locals and this amount can rise further. Relatives of the Gaikwad family have informed that the deceased Ram Brij Gaikwad often narrated about the financial problems created due to his son Sanju Gaikwad. Police also took information from the Revenue Department and came to know that there is no outstanding government loan towards this family. It was further discovered that the family owned only 0.14 hectare of land, on which their house was constructed. Ram Brij Gaikwad had already sold all the land owned by him.
