Arpit Kumar Rai meets Home Minister

Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Jun 17: Youth Congress leader Arpit Kumar Rai, met Home and Public Works Department Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu and urged for the construction of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi Pendra bypass road. As per information the much awaited 12.5 meter bypass construction of the region which is to start from Dhubtiya Chowk to Semra road is on hold owing to lack of funds to be paid as compensation to land owners thorough which the proposed bypass is to pass. Rai stressing upon the construction of the bypass said that the pressure of traffic mostly trucks and heavy movers will be greatly lessened if the bypass is constructed at the earliest. Chhattisgarh government has passed the bill for construction of the bypass which is of an estimated worth 54 crore 81 lack and 80 thousand, of which 37 crore 13 lack 98 thousand had to be given as compensation to farmers, but midway due to lack of funds the compensation amount fell short of distribution leading to stalling of the project for a temporary period. The farmers to be compensated are also reportedly in financial crunch as after the State Governments decision to hold their land, they cannot further sell their land to independent buyers. A total of 286 farmers are affected due to this, of which there are 95 from Pendra, 51 from Amarpur, 64 from Andbhar, 29 from Bandhi, 6 from village Kudkai 27 from village Bhadora, and 14 from village Semri respectively.Arpit Rai has requested the State Government to reach out to the affected farmers and speed track the further construction of the bypass connecting GPM district to other parts of the state.
