Cricket betting racket busted; five held

With the arrest of five persons, police claimed to have busted a local racket of cricket betting. The accused were accepting bets for the T-20 Cricket World Cup Match which was played between India and Pakistan.
CSP Vishwas Chandrakar informed that in view of the ongoing T-20 Cricket World Cup, SSP Badri Narayan Meena has instructed to keep a watch on the people involved in cricket betting and take strict action against them.
In this sequel, Khursipar Police received a tip off regarding a person who was accepting bets on mobile phone. Police team swung into action and the suspect Saklain Siddhiqui (28) son of Sheikh Jilani a resident of near Masjid in Zone 3 Khursipar was caught red handed while accepting bets. A mobile phone and Rs 1500 cash were seized from him.
In another incident, police conducted raid at a house near Shivalaya in Zone – 1 in Khursipar and nabbed four persons while accepting bets on the T-20 match.
Four nos mobile phones, 60 nos betting records and Rs 7000 cash were seized from them. The accused were identified as Aamir Khan (25) son of Abdul Gaffar; Jitendra Soni (23) son of Ramashankar Soni; Pawan Yadav (18) son of Kanchan Yadav and Saddam Hussein (26) son of Abdul Gaffar, all residents of Camp-2 Chhawani. They have been booked under the provisions mentioned in section 4 (a) of Gambling Act.
Durg Police appealed all the citizens to immediately inform the cops if they come to know about such illegal activities. Mobile numbers of the beet in-charges and other police officers have been displayed through banners and posters in all the localities. Sub Inspector Satish Sahu, Head Constable Narendra Singh, Constable Rakesh Chaudhary, D Prakash, Vinod Sinha, Aman Sharma, Subhash Yadav and civil team cops including Constable Satyendra Madharia, Rinku Soni, Arvind Mishra and Avan Banchhor played vital role in arresting the accused.
