From OHP, SP3 & RMP 3 to SMS 3, BAR & Rod Mill & MRD; records galore in Jan

Bhilai, Feb 03: From Ore Handling Plant, Blast Furnaces, Sinter Plants, Steel Melting Shop, RMP and Bar and Rod Mill, SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has created several records in the month of January 2021. The Plant’s SMS-3 recorded best ever monthly production of 230525 Tonnes in January 2021 as against previous best of 219,332 in Oct’20. Sinter Plant 3 (SP 3) recorded best ever monthly production of 4,66,368 T in January 2021 as against previous best monthly production of 464,467 in Oct’20.
The Plant’s Bar & Rod Mill too has recorded its best ever monthly production of 45609 T in the month of Jan’21 as against previous best monthly production of 40027 T in Dec. 2020. BRM also recorded best ever monthly dispatch of 43925 T in Jan ’21 as against previous best monthly dispatch of 41488 T in Dec 2020. The Plant’s RMP-3 has also recorded its best ever monthly production of 28,184 T in Jan 21, surpassing previous best of 27,581 T in Oct 20.
It is worth mentioning that the Plant’s Blast Furnaces have also created new records in production, productivity and techno-economics in Jan 21. Blast Furnace 8 has recorded best ever monthly Hot metal production of 226063 Tonnes in Jan 2021, surpassing the previous best of 224403 T achieved in Oct’20.
While the Plant’s Ore Handling Plant has created new records in overall material unloading, handling and despatch in the month of Jan 2021, the modern Ore Handling Plant B has unloaded record number of 4661 wagons in Jan 21 as against previous best of 4449 wagons unloaded in March 2020. Total volume of material unloaded at OHP B in Jan 21 was also highest at 305401 T as against previous best of 293281 T in March 20.
Total volume of material dispatched by OHP B was highest at 325350 T as against previous best of 292770 T in Dec 20. Total volume of material handled by OHP B in Jan 21 was highest at 630751 T as against previous best of 559461 T in Dec 20. OHP B also dispatched record volume of 7450 T of OH Grade iron ore to SMS 3 in Jan 21 as against previous best of 6000 T in Dec 20. It is worth mentioning hat OHP B has recorded a new high in average daily dispatch at 10495 T in Jan 21 as against previous best average of 9444 T in Dec 20.
The Plant’s Material Recovery Dept (MRD) too has registered record despatch of 59823 T of scrap in Jan 2021, registering a growth of 27% over previous best figure of 47097 T recorded in Dec 2020. Ìt is worth mentioning that MRD had recorded best performances in the months of Oct, Nov and Dec 2020, thereby generating revenue for the Plant.
Director I/c SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant Anirban Dasgupta and Executive Director Works Rajiv Sehgal congratulated teams of all the shops and departments that have created new records and urged them to sustain higher levels of performance in the remaining two months of the current
fiscal year.
