Five held in fake ration card racket

Bhilai, Aug 11: Police have arrested five persons including a woman in connection with a fake ration card racket. Two other accused managed to escape. Police have seized the mobile phone, sim cards and laptop, which were used in making bogus ration cards. The bogus ration cards were prepared in Power House, Ambikapur and Baliya (Bihar).
Police informed that on June 23, Food Inspector Deepa Verma had lodged a complaint at Durg City Kotwali that using her login credentials, 44 ration cards of Antyodaya category have been fraudulently made. She added that her credentials were used by some other IP Address and not by the computer set of her office.
In the same manner, 140 bogus ration cards were made by suing the credentials of Assistant Revenue Officer (BMC, Zone 3) Malkhan Singh Shori; and credentials of Dhruw Kumar Tiwari were used to create one ration card. In this way, about 185 bogus ration cards were created from different IP addresses on holidays. Till June 08, 2021, 57 ration cards were used at PDS Shop of village Purai for getting ration. Loss of about Rs 8033541 occurred to the government due to the use of these bogus ration cards.
Taking the matter into serious cognizance, police launched investigations and acquired the IP addresses which were used in committing the crime. Some mobile numbers were also traced by Cyber Cell. Police found that the mobile number was being used by one Akash Singh Yadav. When questioned, he disclosed that on being asked by Vivek Chaudhary, the mobile phone was used and one Vikas Nirmalkar used his laptop to make ration cards. During sustained interrogation, they disclosed that one Mamta Gadhpalliwar had provided the credentials and laptop of Malkhan Singh Shori.
Police have arrested Akash Singh Yadav (23) of Sector 1, Vivek Chaudhary (30) of Housing Board Colony, Vikas Nirmalkar (30) of Camp-1, Shubham Sao (23) of Baikunthdham and Mamta Gadhpalliwar (50) of Sector 8 in connection with this bogus ration card racket. Inspector Rajesh Bagde (SHO, Durg City Kotwali), Inspector Gaurav Tiwari (I/c Cyber Cell), SI Devdas Bharti, Head Constable Chandra Shekhar Banjir, Constable Kanti Sharma and Constable Bhim Singh played vital role in nabbing the accused.
