Central Chronicle News
Bhilai, Aug 28: On Saturday, a delegation of Aam Admi Party met the Executive Director of Electricity Department and submitted a memorandum regarding irregularities and arbitrary activity on the part of officials and contractors.
Jaspreet informed that Murli Sahu, a resident of Khursipar got a power connection after producing an affidavit to submit property tax receipt within a month. AAP leaders stated that there is not legal provision of seeking property tax receipt for getting electricity connection.
Later the connection was disconnected without serving notice for non-submission of property tax receipt. The Assistant Engineer had cut the entire power line of street lights and public toilets also along with the connection of Murli Sahu.
In the second case, Meherban Singh told that the connection of the residence of Ram Kumar Lahere in Dabrapara was disconnected without notice, and then connected on humanitarian grounds.
AAP office bearers informed that the Executive Director himself told that there is no provision to submit property tax receipt for electricity connection.
AAP women’s wing State Secretary K Jyoti said that contractors and brokers are active in every zone and provide temporary connection for marriages and other events for Rs 6500 but give receipt of only Rs 5000.
When people apply for permanent power connection, the officials often refuse on the excuse of high load on the transformer. But when the applicant approaches through the contractor, the work is done easily.
The Executive Director assured to conduct an inquiry on the complaints. Meherban Singh, K Jyoti, Murli Sahu, Santosh, Jaspreet, Kulbir, Sonu Yadav, Balwinder, Sadia, Harcharan, Nityaprakash, and others were present.
