Fifth & last of kilns of BSP’s Modex Unit RMP 3 lit up

Bhilai, Mar 03: The fifth and last Kiln of SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s Modex Unit – Refractory Materials Plant 3 was inaugurated with Executive Director (Projects) AK Bhatta lighting up the kiln on March 02, 2021 in presence of SK Dubey, Executive Director (P&A), SK Mehta, CGM (Projects- Utilities & Steel), RK Shrivastava, CGM (RMP), Gulab Shukla, GM I/c Projects-Steel, senior officers of Projects Dept., RMP 3 and other enabling shops & departments of the Plant.
Refractory Materials Plant-3 has five kilns including 4 kilns for production of lime and one kiln for production of calcined dolomite. Each Kiln has a capacity of 450 tonnes/day (TPD) capacity and shall meet the requirements of SMS 3 through L-10 conveyor and SMS 2 through pipe conveyor.
Four Kilns have already been commissioned and with lighting up of Kiln 5, a major milestone has been crossed in the Plant’s Modex package. Each Kiln has a capacity of 450 TPD and shall meet the requirements of SMS 3 through L-10 conveyor and SMS 2 through pipe conveyor. The trial and testing of Kiln 5 was in progress since Jan’21 end.
A fully automated plant with computerized operations, the technology and equipment of RMP 3 has been supplied by M/s MEARZ, Switzerland. The Project has been executed by M/s Shapoorji Pallonji Company Limited under the supervision of the Plant’s Projects Dept. Representatives of technology suppliers and project execution agency were also present at the inauguration of Kiln 5
The new and modern Refractory Materials Plant 3 is equipped with dedusting system, gas cleaning plant and dust suction facilities, making it an environment friendly unit. The kilns are gas fired as against the conventional oil-fired system, making these energy-efficient as well.
